Sports massage is a form of bodywork geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and help athletes recover from workouts and injuries. Sports massage has three basic forms: pre-event massage, post-event massage, and maintenance massage.
Muscle strains can be categorized into three grades, based on severity:
Grade 1: Mild damage to individual muscle fibers (less than 5% of fibers) that causes minimal loss of strength and motion.
Grade 2: More extensive damage with more muscle fibers involved. …
Grade 3: Complete rupture of a muscle or tendon.
Peroneal tendonitis occurs when the peroneal tendons become inflamed. This happens when there is an increased load and overuse of the tendons, leading to them rubbing on the bone.
This friction causes the tendons to swell. Over time, the tendons will thicken in size to try and manage the increased load more efficiently
Massage may work as well as drugs like aspirin or Advil in easing pain from intense exercise.
The word massage alone elicits deep relaxation and stress relief, and now a new study sheds light on how deep touch works to ease pain and promote healing in sore muscles.
Researchers at McMaster University in Canada found that massage affects the activity of certain genes, directly reducing inflammation in muscles — the same result you’d get by taking aspirin or ibuprofen — and boosting their ability to recover from exercise.
My SPECIALTY is “On the Edge” Deep Tissue Massage. I work on a scale of 1 – 10, where 7 is on the edge and 10 is very excruciating pain. Some discomfort is necessary when receiving deep tissue massage to get results. A lot of my clients handle the deep tissue pain or even like the deep tissue pain in order to get the quickest results for their body type. My style of Deep Tissue Massage releases the body’s natural painkillers whereby it stimulates the release of endorphins, the morphine-like substances that the body manufactures, into the brain and nervous system….kind of like a “Runners High” or a parasympathetic state “rest and digest” of mind.
My style of Deep Tissue Massage releases the body’s natural painkillers whereby it stimulates the release of endorphins, the morphine-like substances that the body manufactures into the brain and nervous system. Once that happens (your now in a parasympathetic state “rest and digest”) I then go to work on your injured area to break up the damaged fibrous adhesion’s which are spread randomly throughout a muscle thus increasing blood flow, oxygen, strength, flexibility, and tissue re-building.
